Amongst many space-faring civilizations, there is a commonly occurring condition which is experienced by countless deep-space and long distance explorers known as the Galistrani Effect. Being so far removed from any sign of civilization for such long periods has a tendency to make one so desperate for contact that they begin to imagine civilized contacts at every turn, like a deep space mirage. After scouting each of the 26 planets that the scanner said was in this system and still not determining the source of the signals, our Captain starts to resign to the possibility that Galistrani has struck again.
